Serena Vermeersch death of Surrey 17-year-old deemed a homicide

The death of a 17-year-old girl in Surrey, B.C., has been deemed a homicide.
RCMP were to hold a news conference Thursday into the case of Serena Vermeersch, whose body was found Tuesday night.

She was reported missing earlier that day.

Vermeersch was last seen getting on a bus at about 8 p.m. Monday, and Mounties are calling on anyone who may have seen her get on or off the bus to contact them.

Police would also like to speak to a man seen on the railroad tracks in a nearby neighbourhood about two hours before Vermeersch boarded the bus and say he was leaving in a grey or silver pickup truck.
RCMP did not have a description of the man but say he may be able to provide some information.

Alan Henning ISIS after killing David Haines..Islamic State threatens to behead another man, British aid worker Alan Henning, after killing David HainesDavid Cawthorne Haines beheading video Breaking News..ISIS Says It Executed David Cawthorne Haines, British Aid Worker..

The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria released a video on Saturday that showed what appeared to be the beheading of a British citizen, David Cawthorne Haines, an aid worker who is seen kneeling on a bare hill in a landscape that appears identical to where two American journalists were killed by the group in back-to-back-executions in the past month, according to footage and a transcript released by SITE Intelligence, which tracks the terrorist group.

In the moments before his death, Mr. Haines, 44, like the two journalists killed before him, reads a script in which he blames his country’s leaders for his killing. Addressing Prime Minister David Cameron of Britain, he says, “You entered voluntarily into a coalition with the United States against the Islamic State, just as your predecessor Tony Blair did, following a trend among our British prime ministers who can’t find the courage to say no to the Americans.”

Ray Rice Elevator Fiancee Takes Crushing Punch Video

Ray Rice Elevator Fiancee Takes Crushing Punch Video..BALTIMORE RAVENS TERMINATE CONTRACT OF RAY RICE AFTER VIDEO SHOWS RICE PUNCHING NOW-WIFE IN AN ELEVATOR

Video of Ray Rice's attack on his then-fiancee apparently was the last straw for the Baltimore Ravens, who announced Monday afternoon they've terminated the embattled running back's contract.
Rice, a three-time Pro Bowler and who helped Baltimore to a Super Bowl title in the 2012 season, was charged with third-degree aggravated assault following a Feb. 15 incident at a casino in Atlantic City, N.J., in which he alleged knocked out his then fiancé and now wife, Janay Palmer (now Janay Rice)

Initially, Rice and Palmer both were charged with simple assault. The Atlantic County prosecutor's office later dropped the charge against her. In March, Rice was indicted by a grant jury on the more serious charge of third-degree assault. The charge carried a potential sentence of three to five years in prison. After the indictment, Rice and Palmer married.

In May, Rice entered a program for first-time offenders that would clear his record of the criminal charge if he met certain conditions, including participation in counseling.

On July 24, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell imposed a two-game suspension on Rice at the start of the regular season. Rice missed the Ravens Sunday opening loss to the Cincinnati Bengals and will miss Thursday night's game in Baltimore against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

On Aug. 28, the NFL introduced new, standardized penalties for domestic violence: a six-game suspension for a first offense and an indefinite suspension of at least one year for a second offense. Goodell, who had been criticized on grounds that the suspension was too lenient, said at that time, "I didn't get it right. Simply put, we have to do better, and we will."
